THE 4TH SESSION OF THE ARMENIAN-CZECH INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION ON ECONOMIC COOPERATION WAS HELD IN PRAGUE

The fourth session of the Armenian-Czech intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was held in Prague, Czech Republic on December 19-20.

The Co-Chairmen of the Czech-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation were the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Mane Adamyan from the Armenian side and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Vladimir Bartle from the Czech side. The Deputy Minister of Education and Science Arevik Anapiosyan and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Artak Kamalyan were also included in the Armenian delegation and held several bilateral meetings at sectorial ministries.

Mane Adamyan presented his counterparts the work of the Armenian side towards the ensuring transparent and competitive business environment, as well as encouraging and protecting investments, she also pointed the economic reforms conditioned by the new realities in Armenia's political life.

In response, Vladimir Bartle promised to inform the Czech private sector about Armenia's business and investment opportunities.

During the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their willingness to continue active cooperation with the aim of deepening and diversifying trade and economic ties in the spheres of mutual interest.

In particular, they discussed the possibilities of deepening cooperation in energy, industry, transport, agriculture and scientific-educational spheres.

The Armenian side suggested Czech companies to consider the possibility of participating in open tenders on Solar Stations Establishment in Talin, Greater Masrik, Dashtadem and Merdzavan.

In the field of agriculture it was recommended to cooperate in the directions of milk processing and cheese production.

The participants also discussed the Czech experience in production and use of anti-hail systems.

During the meeting the sides highly assessed the potential of the two states in the spheres of high technologies and innovation. Taking into consideration the interest of the Czech colleagues, the Armenian side expressed readiness to provide the necessary information and contacts for the opening in the Czech Republic the branches of the “Tumo” Center for Creative Technologies and "Armmat" engineering laboratories.

The texts of the Agreement on sectoral cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministries of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic, as well as the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Czech Republic on international automobile transportations were agreed upon and will be signed after the internal procedures of the parties are ratified.

During the meeting the Parties welcomed the success results registered in EU-Armenia relations and expressed willingness to deepen the Armenian-Czech bilateral relations within the framework of the Eastern Partnership.

In parallel with the intergovernmental meeting, various meetings were held with the Armenian and Czech businessmen in different spheres to attract possible investments in Armenia and establish an Armenian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The members of the Armenian delegation visited the largest ZEVO Maleshitse factory of garbage recycling in order to get acquainted with the works on site.

The executive director of "Technoexport" multifunction company expressed an intention to visit Armenia in the near future to discuss several possible investment projects.

The first session of the Armenian-Czech intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was held in Yerevan in September and the second in 2016. in April in Prague, and the third - in 2017. September, in Yerevan.
