On October 3, meeting of the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai with Armenian students of tourism sector took place.

The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Garegin Melkonyan and Executive Director of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Carlos Vogeler.

Garegin Melkonyan told the students that the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA could not dismiss the opportunity of their involvement in UNWTO 38th Affiliate Members Plenary Session and organized their meeting with Taleb Rifai.

Taleb Rifai represented the path of his life from student years till the job as the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization. He noted the important role of tourism in the global economy. Taleb Rifai also expressed confidence that Armenia has good potential for tourism development, and the availability of good professionals is very important for sector development.

According to the Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, even wars can not be an obstacle for tourism. Answering to the questions of the students, he urged them not to forget that the main purpose of tourism is to make this world a better place.
