On October 26 the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Suren Karayan met the Head of the Russian State Treasury Andrei Yurin and President of the Russian largest diamond mining ALROSA company Andrey Zharkov. The issues related to expansion of cooperation have been discussed.

Minister Karayan pointed out that there is a great potential for the development of the diamond processing in our country and the Government of Armenia attaches importance to the promotion of the sector as one of the priority areas of economy, which also opens great opportunities to deepen cooperation within framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. The Minister presented the planned reforms in the sector, which will create favorable environment for companies operating in Armenia.

In his turn, Andrey Zharkov presented the activates of ALROSA and the Armenian companies engaged in the processing of raw materials, noted that according to the data for 9 months the growth in the sector compared with the same period of last year is noticeable and in future they will continue the activities aimed at expansion of cooperation.

During the meeting the sides touched upon a number of issues /public-private interaction, competitive issues existing in the sector/.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the results of the activities being jointly implemented and reaffirmed their commitment to develop cooperation.
