On December 10, RA Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan met Artak Zakaryan, the executive director of medicine producers and importers union of Armenia.

During the meeting were discussed a number of issues related to the pharmaceutical industry, particularly, the new procedures operating in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.

An agreement has been reached to organize a meeting with the participation of the representatives the sector, the Ministry of Healthcare of the RA, as well as Development Foundation of Armenia to presenting the new procedures due to the operation of the single market of drugs in the territory of the European Union since January 1, 2017, as well as export possibilities of the Armenian pharmaceutical companies.

The representatives of the Ministry have also suggested discussing the development possibilities of the sector, in the context of deepening economic cooperation with Iran, creation of a free economic zone.

Particularly, it was agreed that the union will negotiate with the Iranian pharmaceutical companies to establish joint Armenian-Iranian pharmaceutical companies in the free economic zone and will submit appropriate proposals to the Ministry.
