On February 9, Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Suren Karayan received the delegation headed by Abdolnaser Hemmati, the Director General of the Central Insurance of IR Iran to discuss issues of cooperation in the field of insurance between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The delegation consists of executive directors of three major Iranian insurance companies.
Minister Suren Karayan welcomed the guests and noted that the development of the insurance institute, as well as cooperation of the Armenian-Iranian insurance companies could have a serious impact on development of economic relations, increase of trade turnover.
Abdolnaser Hemmati, the Director General of the Central Insurance of IR Iran noted that the existing high level of political and economic relations between two countries is a good basis for developing cooperation in the field of insurance.
Vazgen Abgaryan, the Executive Director of Export Insurance Agency of Armenia informed the guests that memorandum of cooperation was signed between Export Insurance Agency of Armenia and Export Guarantee Fund of Iran in 2015.
Vazgen Abgaryan suggested deepening cooperation in the field of reinsurance, determining the possibility of reinsurance transactions of export credit to Iran.
The Iranian side, in his turn, suggested signing a tripartite memorandum between Export Insurance Agency of Armenia, Export Guarantee Fund of Iran and Central Insurance of IR Iran to defining the directions of deepening the cooperation.
At the end of the meeting an agreement was reached to develop a clear plan and organize a visit of the representatives of Armenian export insurance agency to Iran.
