Minister Suren Karayan visited the relaunched Yerevan leather factory

The Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Suren Karayan continues to visit enterprises making investments in 2017.

This time the Minister Karayan visited relaunched Yerevan leather factory to familiarize with production, problems and discuss possibilities of cooperation.

Suren Karayan toured the factory, getting acquainted with the materials processing process.

By the proposal of the Minister the representatives of the UN Industrial Development Organization also visited the factory to discuss with the Ministry and the organization the assistance, which can be given to the factory in the framework of the second phase of “Improving Competitiveness of Export-Oriented Industries in Armenia through Modernization and Market Access” Project.

According to Minister Karayan, the next visit will be in three months, when the factory will complete the whole cycle in leather processing.

"We want as a result of our joint actions the whole chain of leather production from raw materials processing to final production of leather goods happens in Armenia creating added value ",-noted Minister Karayan.

The executive director of the factory Ashot Gomtsyan noted that the factory has more than 100 employees now. When processing of raw materials finished in 3 months, their number will increase. At the end of this year the investors plan to create 700 workplaces.

"We are planning Armenian leather production; shoes, leather accessories such as gloves, bags, belts etc",- said Ashot Gomtsyan. The latter added that they are permanently in contact with the Ministry to solve the problems operatively and update the Ministry of the process of the production.
