On February 16 Deputy Minister Emil Tarasyan received the representatives of the business community of Iran at the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA.
Welcoming the guests, the Deputy Minister underlined that strengthening business relations with Iran is one of important directions of Armenia's economic policy. He suggested discussing specific projects, which could significantly promote the development of trade and economic relations between two countries.
Emil Tarasyan presented to the Iranian guests the possibility of exporting goods from Armenia to the Eurasian Economic Union and third countries. He suggested actively participating in management and operation of the free economic zone in Meghri.
The Deputy Minister touched upon two other promising directions of cooperation, opening of halal food offices in Armenia and cooperation in the field of nanotechnology.
Emil Tarasyan expressed readiness to discuss proposals for cooperation in tourism, as well as other sectors.
They also referred to the difficulties faced by the Armenian and Iranian businessmen both in Iran and Armenia.
E. Tarasyan emphasized the necessity of creation a logistic center to solve the issues raised through the principle of "one stop shop ".
The Iranian side expressed interest regarding the proposals presented, as well as informed about its interests to cooperate in the sectors of agricultural machinery production, pharmaceutics and etc.
The representatives of the Iranian delegation informed the Deputy Minister about the intention to organize large exhibition of Iranian products, which is a good opportunity for Iranian businessmen to present their products and establish business ties with Armenian partners.
At the end of the meeting the sides expressed readiness to examine in detail all proposals, then to initiate the implementation of programs of mutual interest.
