Consultations on temporary free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union member states and Iran were held

Regular round of consultations were held on March 12-14 in Tehran over signing a temporary free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union member states and Iran. Representatives of EEU member states and the Eurasian Economic Commission were present at the meeting.

The delegation of the Armenian side was led by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Hovhannes Azizyan.

The consultation focused on the text of the draft agreement, as well as the list of products which the sides suggest to implement tariff privileges. The sides agreed to continue discussions in order to sign the document in the foreseeable future.

Azizyan also had meetings with Iran’s Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mojtaba Khosrotaji and Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ali Akbar Mehrfardi. During the meeting the Iranian side was proposed the creation of a joint Armenian-Iranian import/export company, which will contribute to exports from Armenia to Iran, as well as Iranian products to markets having privileged regimes for Armenia. The Iranian welcomed the idea and suggested to discuss the possible mechanisms for realization.
