The EU-EAEU economic cooperation prospects in the agenda of the 5th “East Forum Berlin”

On April 6, the 5th “East Forum Berlin” on partnership opportunities and challenges between the European Union and Eurasian Economic Union took place.

More than 400 public/private sector representatives and experts from the EU and EAEU member states were invited to the forum.

Board Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan also participated in the forum and delivered speech.

The forum was attended by the Member of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Minister of Internal Markets, Information Support, Information and Communication Technologies Karine Minasyan, Member of the Board, Minister for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Veronika Nikishina, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Emil Tarasyan and Deputy Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of RA Arman Khachatryan

Within the framework of the forum thematic sessions and round tables took place, focusing on overcoming trade obstacles from Lisbon to Vladivostok and steps for achieving free trade zone, as well as other issues.

Official lunch-discussion took place during which Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments Emil Tarasyan delivered speech. The Deputy Minister stated that the EU is one of Armenia’s key trade and economic partners and added, “We have effective cooperation with the European Union, including EU various support instruments, “Horizon 2020”, “COSME”, etc. The evidence of our effective cooperation is initialed Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between Armenia and EU which does not contradict to Armenia’s commitments assumed within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and provides cooperation in various spheres of economy,” mentioned Deputy Minister Emil Tarasyan and added that Armenia aspires to become a bridge between the EAEU and the EU, as well as Iran and Middle East.
