On June 22, informational event-discussion with business environment representatives on the “Generalised Scheme of Preferences+” (GSP+) took place at the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA. The aim of the meeting was to raise the awareness of the business community about the regime and to promote the expansion of GSP + use.
The event was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Garegin Melkonyan, officials from the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA and the European Commission GSP+ system, as well as by the representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Armenia, business community, etc.
During the event the basic principles and opportunities of the “Generalised Scheme of Preferences+” (GSP+) have been represented to the potential GSP+ beneficiaries. Information on EU Export Helpdesk, Registered Exporter System (REX), the requirements for its application and registration opportunities has been delivered.
At the end of the meeting the officials from Armenia and European Commission answered the questions of the participants.
Since January 1, 2014, Armenia has been using the “Generalised Scheme of Preferences+” (GSP+).
Under the GSP+, the European Commission monitors Armenia's compliance with its international commitments, in particular the effective implementation of the 27 core international conventions on human rights, labour rights, environmental protection and good governance principles.
For Armenian products GSP+ grants ZERO customs duties on over 6400 EU tariff lines.
