The Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Suren Karayan visited Syunik region on July 14-16 to get introduced the economic and tourism projects in the region.

Suren Karayan visited the construction of “Syunik Food” company. Working group headed by the Minister got acquainted with the construction activities and discussed the process of implementation of the investment program. According to Executive Director of the company Sarmen Sargsyan, the privilege granted by the Government has greatly helped the program and the construction will be finished after two months.

Suren Karayan also visited Syunik Free Economic Zone construction and was introduced to its plan, infrastructure and details of construction activity. Suren Karayan also got acquainted with information materials provided to Iranian tourists in Meghri customs point.

The next stop of the Minister was Meghri canned food factory. Director of the factory Grisha Grigoryan mentioned that loans provided by SME Investments UCO and state subsidies essentially helped the business to survive and expand and the products are exported to USA, Canada, Russia and the Ukrain.

The Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Suren Karayan discussed the potential of Syunik in light industry sector holding meetings with the representatives of Goris, Kapan and Khndzoresk light industry factories.
