“Eurasian Week” forum takes place in Astana on August 24-26. The conference program includes 30 thematic discussions on 13 branches of economy, which are of strategic importance for the Union.
The Delegation headed by the Vice Prime Minister, Minister of International Economic Integration and Reforms of the Republic of Armenia Vache Gabrielyan is composed of the Deputy Ministers of Economic Development and Investments of RA Emil Tarasyan and Hovhannes Azizyan.
During the discussion “EAEU-Iran: Transport and Logistics Corridor Improvement” Hovhannes Azizyan represented the North-South Road Project as an alternative way of transportation from Iran to Eurasian and European markets considering Armenia's role as the only country with a land border with Iran.
Hovhannes Azizyan and the Head of the Department of Sectoral Economic Policy of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA Armen Yeganyan represented the project of free economic zone being established on the area near the border with Iran as one more logistical opportunity, which is another way of boosting trade between Iran and EAEU, pointing out that joint ventures can develop trade and economic ties between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union.
During the discussion “EAEU Digital Transformation: A new look at economy”, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Emil Tarasyan mentioned, “Armenia has a strong intellectual and staff potential, Armenian technology companies successfully cooperate with major transnational companies. These factors are an important prerequisite for the development of digital economy, which will promote Armenia's advancement in this direction. The EAEU Digital Agenda is an effective mechanism for the formation and functioning of a single unified space of member states, which will enable the development of digital economies, transition to a new level of economic and social progress.”
The next “Eurasian Week” will take place in Yerevan next year.
