Meeting with Non-Food Market Entities

On August 18 in Shirak and on August 23 in Syunik Regions, the Inspection Body for Market Surveillance of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investmetns of RA organized awareness-raising meetings with representatives of economic and Non-Governmental Organizations engaged in the production, import and sale of non-food products. Governors of the Regions also attended the meetings.

The Head of the Inspection Body for Market Surveillance of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA Levon Khalikyan noted that the inspections of the first quarter of the current year as well as the surveys of the enterprises showed that there is a need for awareness and that this meeting was initiated with the businessmen, whose main purpose is to inform them about the processes taking place in the field and the main problems.

Levon Khalikyan called on the economic entities not to consider the inspection body as an inspector and a punitive authority. “The inspection body has adopted a policy of partnering, we are not an inspector, but we call for cooperation. Do not be afraid of regular non-food inspections. They are not executed to penalize anyone. We are ready to come, meet and help you to avoid problems with the next inspections,” added Levon Khalikyan.

Khalikyan spoke about possible, as well as already discovered violations in the field of toys, gas filling stations, petrol and motor oils.

During the meetings it was also mentioned that only state control over the market regulation is insufficient, businessmen and consumers should also be informed and the role of NGOs and mass media will ensure public control.
