Steering Committee session of EU Budget Support Programme took place

On October 23, the Steering Committee session of EU Budget Support Programme “Support to the Government of Armenia for the implementation of the European Neighbourhood Policy Action Plan and preparations for the future Association Agreement – Phase II” took place at the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA.

The session was co-chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia Garegin Melkonyan and the Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski.

Relevant representatives of interested Ministries, other state bodies, as well as representatives of the EU Delegation to Armenia took part in the session

The First Deputy Minister Garegin Melkonyan welcomed the regular Steering Committee meeting and touched upon the goals of financing agreement signed in 2014, as well as the directions and reforms fixed by the agreement.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the process of implementation of the activities provided by the agreement, particularly in the field of anti-corruption, effective and transparent public administration, including e-governance, civil service, as well as issues on implementation of the principle “one stop, one window” border agencies.

As a result of the discussion, the sides enlisted the activities provided by the agreement, highlighting the role of the Budget Support tool in the implementation of reforms in the above mentioned spheres in Armenia. The parties also agreed to take joint measures in the future to implement the activities fixed in the Armenian-European cooperation agenda and to increase their visibility.
