On November 9, the Chairperson of the State Committee for Tourism of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA Zarmine Zeitountsian received the delegation headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Armenia Jonathan Lacôte.
The Chairperson of the Committee Zarmine Zeitountsian congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment wishing him effective activity and represented the activity of the Committee and the steps towards raising the awareness of Armenia.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the warm reception and touched upon the issues of strengthening ties between Armenia and France. He noted that tourism is one of the most important priorities of Armenia's economy and added that Armenia offers tourists what the French tourists are looking for.
The issue of spreading French-language information, as well as the issue of organizing the visit of journalists and bloggers from France to Armenia in 2018 has been discussed during the meeting.
The Ambassador also informed that French tourists are interested in religious, adventurous and cultural tourism, adding that the French people are particularly interested in Armenian cuisine and Armenian wines.
At the end of the meeting, an arrangement has been reached to continue the activity towards development of the sector.
From January to September, 2017, 18191 people arrived from France to Armenia, which is increased with 17.7% compared with the same period of the last year.
