On November 18, an event dedicated to the World Quality Day was held in Yerevan, organized by the National Institute of Standards of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA, jointly with the National Confidence Council.
The event was attended by a number of Armenian companies of high quality products. The representatives of state bodies and business community of Armenia, as well as foreign guests, representatives of the Russian Union of Manufacturers, the Russian Quality Organization and the European Quality Organization were present at the ceremony.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Emil Tarasyan delivered an opening speech on behalf of the Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan. Greeting the participants, Emil Tarasyan mentioned, “Today, the availability and application of modern quality infrastructure is an important prerequisite for the development of a competitive economy all over the world. In Armenia, effective steps are being taken to introduce an electronic accreditation system that will provide accreditation of conformity assessment bodies, electronic certification bodies and automation of test laboratories, as well as unified registry maintenance.” Emil Tarasyan added that activity is also being carried out to upgrade the metrological reference base, adding metrology laboratories to new standards and compliance with international standards.
During the event, international and local experts delivered a lecture on "Successful Business Management" and "Product Quality Issues and Quality Management".
World Quality Day is an annual event organized in a number of countries worldwide. The initiator of this day was the European Quality Organization with the support of the UN. World Quality Day is officially celebrated since 1990. The purpose of the day is to stress the importance of quality products and services.
