Prospects of economic cooperation with the Republic of Korea are outlined

The Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments of RA Hovhannes Azizyan received the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation Lee Won Jae and the Third Secretary of the Embassy Shin Seung Hwan.

As a result of the arrangements reached during the meetings with the Trade Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation Karen Asoyan, the representatives of the Embassy of the Korean Republic arrived in Armenia within the framework of the working visit to get acquainted with investment opportunities of our country, to study prospects of economic cooperation between the two countries, including the conditions necessary for South Korean companies to operate in Armenia. The guests were particularly interested in “Meghri” free economic zone.

Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation Lee Won Jae pointed out that the two countries have 25 years of diplomatic relations and added that they want to expand economic cooperation with Armenia, stressing that there are good prerequisites for it.

Expressing gratitude to the guests, Hovhannes Azizyan assured that the Ministry is ready for close cooperation and will make efforts for strengthening and developing trade and economic relations between the two countries. The Deputy Minister briefly presented the process of development of the Armenian economy in the context of joining the EAEU and cooperating with the EU. South Korean diplomats have also been provided detailed information on Armenia's free economic zones, as well as the opportunities of the free economic zone in Meghri.

During the meeting the sides discussed perspective spheres for bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of pharmaceutics, textile, home appliances, information and high technologies.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department of Investment Attraction and Coordination of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA Vahagn Lalayan, Head of the Division Aram Vardanyan and the Trade Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation Karen Asoyan.
