A tendency to improve quality assurance standards in the market has been recorded

31% increase in the product conformity assessment certificates and declarations was registered in the Armenian market in 2017, compared with 2016. The quality of the market is improving.

The Inspection Body for Market Surveillance of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of RA summarized the activity carried out in the non-food commodity market and records that the conformity assessment index of imported products increased by 14.6%.

The inspection body implements both supervision and preventive activities and also public awareness activities. Thus, in 2017, the Inspection Body for Market Surveillance conducted 197 inspections and found 81.7% of the business entities lacking a variety of conformity assessment documents, labeling, metrological norms and other violations. Administrative penalties were imposed, and the amount of penalties has been 23,080.0 thousand AMD.

Within the framework of preventive and awareness-raising activities, meetings and consultations have been organized in Yerevan and four regions: Shirak, Syunik, Kotayk and Tavush.

Through media and hot line, consultative activity has also been carried out to raise the legal awareness of consumers and businessmen.
